Using Lubricants

Lubricants are an important fact when using sex toys, after all you don't want to end up with a carpet burn feeling do you.

There are really only 3 basic types of lubricant:

1) Water Based Lubes

2) Silicone Based Lubes

3) Oil Based Lubes

A word of warning about using Oil Based Lubricants:

While they sould like they are the more slippery option, and easy to get your hands on, say from the tub of butter you have lying around, they can be problematic. Oil is hard to wash off and can alter the natural acidic balance of the vagina, as well as create a haven for bacteria and can even lead to infections. Oil, as with most silicone based lubricants, should NEVER EVER be used with any latex or silicone based products (including condoms), as the oils will eat holes in the products and destroy them.

Baby Powder
Petroleum Jelly
Massage Oil
Vaginal yeast infection medication (cream and suppositories)
Butter and margarine
Any edible oil
Rubbing alcohol
Burn medication
Haemorrhoidal ointments
Sun cream
Chocolate syrup
Whipped cream
Anything containing vitamim E
Ice cream

What to use:

IF YOU: have hypersensitive skin or are at all allergic
THEN USE: water based lubricants
WHY: they are hypoallergenic

IF YOU: are planning on vaginal penetration
THEN USE: water based lubricants
WHY: How much juice you produce depends where you are in your hormonal cycle, a little extra can only make things better

IF YOU: think you may try anal penetration
THEN USE: oil based lubricants, as long as the sex toy or condom are not latex based, otherwise one that has a desensitizer or a specially made water based lubricant for anal sex
WHY: lubrication is an absolute must for any type of anal penetration. Your anus is thin skinned and easily torn and does not produce its own juices

IF YOU: are going to play with the penis
THEN USE: any water based or silicone based lubricant
WHY: A little extra moisture on the penis during masturbation cuts down on any unpleasant frinction

IF YOU: will be using sex toys

IF YOU: are thinking of sex in the water
THEN USE: silicone based lubricants
WHY: water tends to wash away your own natural juices, so added lubrication is a must
